Rangers are reportedly keen on a move for Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi – as their drive to add quality in the wide positions ramps up.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, scoring seven and assisting two as the Blades made the playoff final but narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

Remaining in the Championship appears to have torpedoed their chances of signing him permanently and that has opened the door for Russell Martin to make a move.

He's now back at Palace and the Scottish Sun say Rangers are chasing a deal to bring him to Ibrox.

Palace reportedly want £10m to sell him this summer and it's unclear as yet whether Rangers plan to negotiate over a permanent deal or bring him in on an initial loan – though meeting anything close to that price tag may be contingent on securing major funds for Hamza Igamane first.

It comes as the new Ibrox owners shift their focus to strengthening in the wide positions with reports today suggesting they plan to sign up to three wingers in the coming weeks.

Thelo Aasgaard was signed today but he is viewed more as a number ten by Martin.

As things stand, the only wide options available to Russell Martin are Oscar Cortes, Rabbi Matondo and Ross McCausland – a thin pool that lacks the proven, consistent quality the club are seeking in those positions.

Reports in Brazil today claimed Rangers are interested in 'Brazilian magician' Weslley Patati, a versatile attacker who primarily plays off the right wing.

Patati and Rak-Sakyi may well be two of them, while they've also been linked with Como's Samuel Ballet this week and the 24-year-old could be another on the way.

Rangers are also closing in on deals for defenders Conor Coady and Nasser Djiga as they beef things up at both ends of the pitch.
