Well, Borussia Dortmund are out of the Club World Cup. The club’s trip to New Jersey ended just as many other have: struggling to make progress out of the the meadowlands while the smog and general unpleasantness take their toll.
As it turns out, Real Madrid are still a good team, and Niko Kovac still has work to do before our beloved Schwarzgelben are ready to compete with Europe’s most elite. Even though the scoreline was close at 3-2, for most of the match Real Madrid were in firm control while BVB struggled to break down their Spanish opponents.
Maximilian Beier
Scored a pretty goal in stoppage time. Showed glimpses of creativity and the industriousness that Dortmund will need this season.
Serhou Guirassy
Drew and scored a penalty. That’s something.
Daniel Svensson
It’s not like he had a great game, but nobody did, and I thought he defended pretty well given the repeated tough situations he was put in.
Julian Brandt
I’m running on fumes here. Brandt had a few bright moments.
