AJ McCarron calls out ‘stupidity’ from Florida State QB

AJ McCarron had some words for Florida State Seminoles quarterback Thomas Castellanos recently.

Castellanos made headlines last month when he said he didn’t fear his Seminoles’ upcoming game against Alabama. Castellanos, who is a transfer player from Boston College, says he doesn’t see the Crimson Tide being able to stop him when the teams meet on Aug. 30. That was some major bulletin-board material he provided Alabama, and McCarron can’t understand why the QB did that.

McCarron, who is a former Alabama quarterback, said Castellanos’ comments were stupid.

“Where do you even start?” McCarron said on THE DYNASTY podcast. “You’re going to a team that was 17th out of 17 teams in the ACC. You’re leaving a team and lost the starting job where you finished ninth in the ACC. Listen, I’m all for confidence, but this is stupidity.”

BC went 7-6 last season, and Castellanos was benched, which led to his decision to transfer. He threw for 1,366 yards, 18 touchdowns and 5 interceptions but rushed for only 194 yards and a touchdown. Now he’s going to a team that went 2-10 and had one of the worst offenses in college football at 15.4 points per game, ranking them 131st out of 134 teams.

If he thinks he’s going to light up Alabama because Nick Saban is no longer their head coach, then he might be in for some disappointment. Like McCarron said, this isn’t exactly the wisest approach.
