Former Cardinal Larry Fitzgerald’s son Devin commits to Notre Dame

PHOENIX, (KYMA, KECY) - Devin Fitzgerald, a rising wide receiver prospect from Brophy Prep and the son of former Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald, is headed to South Bend. The Class of 2026 three-star announced his commitment to Notre Dame over the weekend, choosing the Irish over several Power 4 offers including UCLA, Arizona, and Arizona State.

The 6-foot pass catcher emerged last fall with a breakout junior season, hauling in 52 receptions for 720 yards and nine touchdowns. His recruitment heated up this spring, and Notre Dame officially extended an offer in May. The Irish had reportedly been tracking Fitzgerald closely since his freshman year.

Fitzgerald becomes the 24th member of Notre Dame’s 2026 recruiting class, which currently ranks fourth nationally according to ESPN. He’s also the latest recruit with NFL bloodlines to join the Irish the third in this class and joins a wide receiver room that already includes commitments from Kaydon Finley (son of Jermichael Finley) and Bubba Frazier.

Despite his father's legacy with the Cardinals where Larry Fitzgerald spent 17 seasons and finished second all-time in NFL receiving yards, Devin has carved his own path. He implied the decision was about where he felt he could develop and play early. His connection with Notre Dame wide receivers coach Mike Brown, who’s known him since childhood, helped seal the deal.

Fitzgerald is expected to sign with Notre Dame later this year, continuing the family’s football legacy, this time in blue and gold.
