Turkish press claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign exiled Man Utd player he said was 'electric'

Manchester United’s summer clear-out has yet to truly begin this summer.

July 1st saw the new football year begin with Manchester United releasing three first-team players in the form of Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, and Victor Lindelof.

These were three necessary decisions by Ineos, and it is a good start to a summer clear-out; however, plenty of work remains for Jason Wilcox.

United have told five players to find new clubs this summer, advising the quintet not to return to pre-season next week with the rest of the squad.

In a way, United have created a ‘bomb-squad’ this summer, similar to Chelsea’s last summer, with several names just not having a place in the team.

So, with the five told to find themselves a move, now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stepped forward to sign one of the five players.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to bring Jadon Sancho to Besiktas

Despite the big names on United’s exile list, none are attracting interest at a level that makes their departures imminent. Antony is expected to join Real Betis; however, United may not see the entire transfer fee for years due to a ‘shared ownership’ proposal.

Arguably, the player closest to the exit doors right now is Jadon Sancho. This is as a result of substantial interest in Italy which sees Sancho in personal terms talks with Juventus.

However, the Serie A side has new competition with Kartal Record in Turkey, claiming that Super Lig giants Besiktas, managed by Solskjaer, are now asking about Sancho.

Besiktas is keen to sign a new winger this summer, and the report claims Sancho has become an option, with enquiries being made to determine what a deal would potentially cost.

Sancho is certain to leave United this summer, and so far, it is only his wage demands that are proving difficult for interested clubs. But perhaps the prospect of reuniting with Solskjaer would help drop the demands slightly.

Jadon Sancho was once Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s dream signing

Sancho signing for Besiktas would be the second time that Solskjaer has signed the winger in his career, and it should come as no surprise that he is keen to bring the winger to Turkey.

Having joined United in 2021, Sancho was the showpiece signing Solskjaer was waiting for during his reign as the manager, and was expected to be the final piece of a puzzle to mount a serious title charge.

As quoted by the Metro, Solskjaer lauded Sancho as being “exceptional” and “electric” for United during the early days of the £72m transfer.

However, ultimately, the relationship lasted just months before Solskjaer was sacked by United, and Sancho ended up never fulfilling his promise. However, perhaps the two can reunite and have success together in Turkey.

United would certainly welcome Besiktas’ interest if they can afford a deal.
