Man Utd need to offload a number of big earners, could a swap deal be the best way to get rid of Jadon Sancho?

Manchester United need to be creative this summer, thinking outside the box to rebuild the squad get players who are no longer wanted off the wage bill.

Man Utd offered swap deal for Jadon Sancho

Reports of a move to Juventus are encouraging with United handed the chance to strengthen the midfield at the same time by accepting a player in the opposite direction who Roy Keane is a big fan of.

“He turns up every week this player,” said Keane of Douglas Luiz. “Never seems to be injured. Quality player. I like him,” the former Red Devils skipper continued.

“He is consistent. Turns up week in and week out. You know what you are going to get from him. I like a lot about him. Probably lacks that real pace maybe. In terms of his decision-making and looking after the ball, very, very good,” he added when speaking to Sky Sports Premier League.

These are the exact qualities that were missing in United’s midfield last season and the fact that Luiz wasn’t able to nail down a regular place in Juventus’ engine room shouldn’t dissuade Amorim or Jason Wilcox from signing off on the move.

Who could be at risk if Man Utd sign Luiz?

There are two players who could see their game time reduced if United sign Luiz. Amorim has never really seemed to be as keen on Kobbie Mainoo in the system that he likes to play with the academy graduate not having the positional experience to control the tempo of a game or the attacking nous to link attacks either.

This doesn’t make him a bad player, just a square peg in a round hole.

The other who could miss out is Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan should be more settled in English football next season with the hope being that he can take his 6/10 and 7/10 performances and take them up a level or two.

He has been a good signing, if not a great one, and Luiz would be an upgrade on what has been seen so far.

There will be a lot of changes in United’s starting XI and in the squad as a whole so Amorim will need players who he can rely on and who are as low a risk as possible.

Few players come as low risk as one who has the backing of Roy Keane.
