£25m striker makes huge transfer call – Leeds United battle continues

Leeds United are certain about wanting to sign a new striker before they return to the Premier League at the start of next season. Even after adding Lukas Nmecha, the club are still planning to sign at least one more forward before the end of the transfer window.

Joel Piroe was the first-choice striker at Leeds for most of last season as they won the Championship and got promoted to the top flight of English football. Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford were the back-ups, but the former struggled to score goals and the latter struggled to stay fit for any considerable period of time.

Piroe is untested in the top flight, and Leeds are aware that they need a goalscorer of some quality and repute ahead of next season if they want to survive in the Premier League.

Nmecha has arrived on a free transfer, but Leeds are still keen to add more firepower to their squad, and work is ongoing to sign one more striker at least this summer.

Leeds United striker makes transfer decision

Lecce striker Nikola Krstovic has been on Leeds’ radar all summer, and the club have been trying to convince the forward to move to Elland Road.

However, the forward is still not sold on a move to the Whites, and is believed to be prepared to stay in Italy even if he leaves Lecce in the ongoing transfer window.

According to Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport via RomaPress, the striker is open to the idea of moving to Roma this summer.

The Gialorossi are in the market for strikers after moving on Tammy Abraham and Eldor Shomurodov in the ongoing transfer window.

Krstovic has emerged as a key target, and the forward has indicated that he is ready to move to the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

Leeds need to sign a striker soon

Daniel Farke has identified a few areas of the squad that need to be strengthened as a priority this summer, and striker is one of those positions.

Piroe would want to prove himself in the Premier League, but Leeds are aware that they need an upgrade in that position as soon as possible in the ongoing transfer window.

Leeds cannot afford to start the new season in the Premier League with Nmecha, Piroe, Joseph and Bamford as their forward options and need a more proven option in the team.

The Whites cannot afford to wait for Krstovic, who is still not keen on a move to Elland Road this summer.
