Chelsea look to have been given a boost in their shock move for Ethan Nwaneri as fresh reports claim he is reluctant to sign a new deal at Arsenal without guaranteed playing time.
Nwaneri is in the final year of his contract at Arsenal and has emerged a surprise transfer target for Chelsea.
The 18-year-old struggled to hold down a regular starting sport under Mikel Arteta last season, making just 11 starts in the Premier League.

A major development this morning in Arsenal’s move for Noni Madueke, with the Gunners now ready to make an opening bid for the Chelsea winger.
It emerged on Saturday that Madueke has agreed personal terms with Arsenal and Fabrizio Romano says they are now plotting an official move to sign him.
“Understand Arsenal are set to send opening bid for Noni Madueke after agreement with the player on personal terms,” says Romano, who claims Madueke has agreed terms on a five-year contract at Emirates Stadium.
His ability to operate on either flank is a key factor in Arsenal’s interest as the Gunners plot an overhaul of their attack for next season.
He was withdrawn from the quarter-final win over Palmeiras at the last minute after feeling some ‘muscle tightness’.
Speaking after the Club World Cup quarter-final, he said: “I’ve always tried to work in silence. Real Madrid have the best players. Let what has to happen, happen.”
Ethan Nwaneri may push to leave Arsenal if the club cannot guarantee him playing time, according to new reports in TalkSport.
Chelsea are among the several clubs who could offer him an escape route, with some European heavyweights also thought to be keen.
Chelsea and Arsenal are yet to hold talks over Noni Madueke, but these are expected to take place in the coming days.
The Blues hope to hold onto Madueke, according to reports, but are prepared to sell at the right price.
Kudus is prioritising a move to Spurs and talks between the two clubs will continue, The Athletic reports.
The Ghana international has a release clause that is only active for the first 10 days of July, valued at £80million for European clubs, £85m for Premier League sides and £120m for Saudi Arabian teams.
