Newcastle United favourite at centre of bombshell Fenerbahce doping allegation

Allan Saint-Maximin has fired some strong allegations at Fenerbahce following his frosty exit.

Allan Saint-Maximin has sensationally alleged that Fenerbahce tried to “dope” him with a suspicious product.

A turbulent two years since leaving Newcastle United has seen the Frenchman join Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli. He lasted just one year in the Gulf state before joining Fenerbahce on a season-long loan.

Despite an impressive start, Saint-Maximin soon fell out with Jose Mourinho and found himself out of the team. The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur manager called Saint-Maximin overweight when sidelining him towards the back end of the campaign.

He revealed earlier this week that he plans to return to France - possibly at Nice. Newcastle paid £16million to sign Saint-Maximin from the Ligue 1 club in 2019.

Allan Saint-Maximin accuses Fenerbahce

However, his Fenerbahce exit has exploded further with fresh bombshell allegations. Speaking to Sozcu, Saint-Maximin claimed the Turkish giants tried to “dope” him while slamming their overall treatment.

"The reason Fenerbahce could not become champions was that the club was surrounded by factors other than football,” he said. “At one point, they even tried to dope me. People do not know these things.

“You cannot talk about these things openly because they threaten you. If you do, they say 'We will do this and that' to you. Sometimes you find yourself in matters that go beyond football."

Allan Saint-Maximin clarifies interview

The former Toon maverick clarified the situation on social media. He wrote: “I see that things are going all over the place on Twitter, so I'm going to clarify what I said. I was talking about those people around the club who are ready for anything.

“In my case, when I was sick, they practically gave me a treatment that’s considered a doping product. I don’t know for what purpose this team of doctors did that.”

Jose Mourinho’s ‘overweight’ comment

Mourinho ripped into Saint-Maximin following a Europa League clash with Rangers in March. He told reporters: "When a footballer trains well he will become fit, can climb stairs and does not need an elevator. But if he doesn't train well, if he comes in late and is overweight, he needs an elevator to go up because he gets tired very quickly on the stairs."
