Everton have been given encouragement in their pursuit of Omari Hutchinson after Ipswich Town’s relegation, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what his sources have said about Hutchinson‘s stance on a move to Merseyside.

Ipswich have long since anticipated bids for Hutchinson amid interest from both Everton and West Ham, and the winger’s stock has risen after his role in England’s victory at the Under-21 Euros this summer.

Hutchinson scored the second goal of England’s 3-2 win over Germany in the decider, and sources have told Football Insider that the 21-year-old would “love” to be back in the Premier League next season.

Football Insider revealed on 1 May that Hutchinson’s Ipswich contract includes a £35million relegation release clause, and Everton are well-placed to trigger this with David Moyes in the market for a winger.

Everton ready to capitalise on Hutchinson transfer stance

Hutchinson has already reflected on his time with England’s Under-21s this summer as he prepares to capitalise on his five goal contributions for Ipswich last season, potentially with a return to the top-flight.

Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said that Everton could put Ipswich in a bind if they trigger Hutchinson’s £35m release clause, and that the winger is keen to continue his Premier League career.

“Privately, the player would love the chance to return to the Premier League”, he told Football Insider.

“Ipswich, on the other hand, will be hoping to keep hold of him because he’d be a key man for them next season, as they try and win promotion back to the Premier League.

“He has got a relegation release clause in his contract, so if somebody was to meet that – it’s around £35million – then [Ipswich] would be powerless to keep him.

“There will be Premier League clubs sitting up and taking notice of him, and we know that Everton are in the market for wingers.”

Everton risk missing out on statement Hutchinson transfer

Former Man United scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that West Ham will step up their interest in Hutchinson if and when they sell Mohammed Kudus, pitting Everton in a race against time to sign him.

New owners the Friedkin Group will give Moyes roughly £70m to spend on new players this summer, but it remains to be seen if Everton are willing to spend half their budget on a Championship-bound winger.

Moyes has a successful track record of signing players from the second-tier and Everton are also keen on Millwall striker Mihailo Ivanovic, but the Toffees boss will be hesitant to pull the trigger too early on a big-money move for Hutchinson.
