West Ham’s slow motion auction for Mohammed Kudus seems, finally , to be getting up to – half – speed. Which is better than the crawl that began the transfer window.
Tottenham’s underbidding matches West Ham chairman’s favourite negotiating ploy so the two chairmen are well matched. Without a third party – another bidder – you’d feel the negotiations have ‘impasse’ written all over them.
Reportedly, this morning, ‘in the know’ journo Fabrizio Romano claims that there is now urgency behind Tottenham’s position as fear grow over the strength of their bid being diluted with other bidders moving in.

All very well trying to buy at under market value but that leaves a vulnerability: Another club can steam in and whip the player out from under the underbidder’s nose.
Romano has taken to his twitter account this morning with an update, claiming that :
“Tottenham are set to bid again for Mohammed Kudus next week as player’s keen on joining Spurs. Chelsea have also been in touch with Kudus’ camp with more clubs also interested, but Spurs want to accelerate. Thomas Frank already approved Kudus as key target.”
Accelerate? I’m sure they do with Chelsea and ‘more clubs’ interest. Time, for once is on West Ham’s side here so they certainly won’t be grabbing Spurs latest lowball bid, reportedly £55million. Pay the price or run the risk of losing out. With even Arsenal reported this Sunday morning as being back in the frame, Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy is playing a dangerous game. And the clock is ticking.
