Italy’s football media has been reporting on Newcastle United interest in Giorgio Scalvini for a while, with their colleagues in England catching up more recently.
The 21-year-old is coming off the back of a season which was almost completely ruined by injury, and interest from the Magpies almost certainly predates that.
It was all brought back up to date a few weeks ago in Italy, and then [it was explained Atalanta](https://sportwitness.co.uk/newcastle-united-given-forceful-rejection-after-enquiry-magpies-tested-waters/) have no intention of selling the player regardless of how interested Newcastle United may be.
When those reporting on it were trying to think of a fee which would make La Dea wobble, €40-50m was mentioned, although there was doubt even that would be accepted should Newcastle offer such a sum.
This weekend, [Gazzetta dello Sport](http://gazzetta.it) have responded to claims of the Magpies seriously going for Scalvini by explaining there’s ‘no negotiations’ because Atalanta consider him ‘unsellable’.
Whilst the Magpies are said to have made contact, and their interest is taken seriously by Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta knocked them back and didn’t even respond with figures.
