Newcastle United are doing everything they can to keep Tino Livramento at the club beyond the summer transfer window.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 22-year-old’s future at St James’ Park as Man City plan to intensify their pursuit.
Eddie Howe is determined not to lose any of his best players this summer and will stand firm on the club’s lofty valuation of the England international.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 1 July that Man City could accelerate their interest in Livramento after watching him at the Under-21 Euros.
Pep Guardiola sees the right-back as the ideal replacement for Kyle Walker after the former City captain left to join Burnley on a two-year deal.
However, Football Insider revealed on 4 July that Newcastle are extremely reluctant to let Livramento go and will demand an “astronomical” fee to even entertain offers.

O’Rourke explained that Howe is not willing to lose any of his key players this summer as he aims for another ambitious season at St James’ Park.
“*It’s a difficult deal to do for City,*” he told Football Insider.
“It’s no surprise he is pretty high up on Man City’s wanted list for right-back.

Johan Bakayoko update emerges at St James’ Park
While the Magpies continue to put plans in place to keep their best players, they are also aiming to strengthen Howe’s squad on the right-hand side.
Football Insider revealed on 6 July that Newcastle have set their sights on Johan Bakayoko, who has now entered the final year of his contract at PSV.
Sources say they will turn their attention to the Dutch winger if their latest attempt to sign Anthony Elanga breaks down, as he has been a long-term target for Howe.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 4 July that Bakayoko is interested in joining Newcastle as he is keen to play Champions League football next season.
