Former Manchester United manager and legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has contacted Manchester United in recent days.

The Norwegian forward played 235 games for Manchester United and scored 91 goals during his time at the club, including his most famous moment in a United shirt, his injury-time winning goal in the 1999 Champions League final to secure a historic treble for Manchester United.

Following his retirement, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stepped into management and began his career at Molde and later re-joined the Norwegian side after a spell at Cardiff City, at Molde he coached one of the world’s current superstars, Erling Haaland.

Following a succession of poor results in late 2018, Jose Mourinho was sacked as Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed to take the wheel at Manchester United as caretaker manager whilst United’s hierarchy found a replacement for Mourinho.

The United legend impressed everyone with his coaching style and Manchester United won 14 of their first 19 matches leading to Solskjaer being appointed on a permanent basis.

However, things didn’t work out for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and he found himself without a job following a poor run of results during the 2021-22 season. Soslkjaer came close to leading Manchester United to a major European trophy, unfortunately the club missed out on penalties, losing to Villarreal in the 2021 Europa League final.

The United legend now finds himself in charge of Turkish giants Besiktas and led them to a fourth place in the Super Lig last season meaning they will play in next season’s Europa League.

Being in Europe next season has led to the Besiktas boss searching for improvements for his side, looking to bring in top European talent.

According to Ersin Albayrak, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Besiktas have made contact with Manchester United over the potential signing of Jadon Sancho.

The Turkish side have enquired about the transfer conditions if a deal was to go ahead and it is believed Sancho’s market value is around the €28 million mark.

Last season on loan, the 25-year-old scored five goals and provided nine assists for Chelsea which led to the London club opting against signing him on a permanent basis.

It will be interesting to see whether Sancho’s wage demands may cause an issue for Besiktas, similarly to the current negotiations with Italian giants, Juventus.
