Jack Whitehall trolls Newcastle United supporters with Anthony Gordon transfer tease

Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon was spotted enjoying some downtime at Wimbledon yesterday.

Comedian and actor Jack Whitehall has taunted Newcastle United supporters after being snapped at Wimbledon alongside Anthony Gordon.

The duo were seated next to each other at Centre Court as Novak Djokovic ran through British No. 5 Dan Evans in straight sets. A flawless performance saw the Serb progress to the third round as he aims for a record-equalling eighth Wimbledon crown.

Newcastle winger Gordon was looking dapper in an off-white suit and shades. The Toon ace - recently spotted on holiday with Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones - is enjoying some downtime ahead of pre-season training next week.

Newcastle United pre-season plans

Eddie Howe’s men are expected back on Monday - two weeks before their first warm-up fixture against Celtic. The Magpies will then jet off to South Korea and Singapore before the Premier League opener with Aston Villa on August 16.

Gordon has been revelling in his first summer off since 2022 as he prepares for a mammoth Champions League campaign. The 24-year-old was on England duty in consecutive years for the under-21s and senior setup.

Spotted alongside Whitehall - a famous Arsenal fan - was always going to prove a risky move. Posting on social media after their meeting, the comic teased Newcastle fans on social media.

His caption on an Instagram story read: “Spent most of the Djokovic match telling this guy how good he’d look in red” - a reference to his own club. Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano reported last month that the Gunners “have discussed internally” the possibility of signing Gordon.

Gordon outlined his desire to achieve long-term success at St James’ Park after penning a six-year contract last October. He told the club website: "I just think the club's in a great place. Since the takeover, it's just been up and up. Me and the gaffer are a perfect match in terms of style of play.

“I love it here. I'm very happy here, I like living here, the team is very suited to me - and I'm here to win a trophy. The short story is we need to win a trophy. Winning a trophy here would be unbelievable because the fans have waited so long. To be part of the team that finally does it is a massive goal of mine.

"We (my family and I) have always felt settled because Geordies are so easy-going and so welcoming, very easy to speak to and always want the best for you. It's a very easy place to come and live, I think. I feel very connected to everyone - teammates, fans and everyone involved."
