Norwich set price for Leeds United target – Daniel Farke pushes for key reunion

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke is aware that he needs to sign a striker or two even after the capture of Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer. The Whites will need firepower up front if they want to increase their chances of survival in the Premier League next season.

Joel Piroe shouldered the responsibility of scoring goals for Leeds last season they won promotion to the Premier League by winning the Championship.

However, the Dutchman had little support behind him in the squad. Mateo Joseph struggled to score goals, and Patrick Bamford struggled to remain fit for large parts of the campaign.

Leeds came into the summer knowing that they would need goal scorers in their squad to maximise their chances of staying in the top flight next season, and Farke is pushing to bring in someone he knows.

Norwich set transfer demands for Leeds United target

Josh Sargent has been incessantly linked with a move to Leeds, with Farke believed to be driving the club’s interest in the forward this summer.

According to The Pink Un, the Canaries are prepared to sell the striker, but have a certain price in mind for him.

The Championship side are looking to bag a deal worth £16m before agreeing to sell the 25-year-old striker in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Burnley and Wolfsburg are also interested in the forward, but the latter are nowhere close to meeting the asking price slapped by Norwich.

Leeds are closely monitoring the situation, with Farke keen to reunite with Sargent, whom he coached at Carrow Road during his stint as Norwich manager.

Daniel Farke is keen to sign Sargent, but Leeds should remain circumspect

Farke remains a big fan of the striker and believes he has it in him to make an impact if he joins Leeds. The Whites boss rates the striker highly despite his recent patchy record.

However, Leeds cannot take punts this summer, especially when it comes to spending money on strikers, as it could make or break their season in the Premier League.

Sargent has had an awful injury record in the past two seasons, which has seen him miss several big games for Norwich in the Championship.

The American’s previous record in the Premier League should also worry Leeds, as he only scored twice in the division in 26 matches.

Leeds can spend £16m on much better options if Norwich decide to stick to their valuation of the striker.
