Manchester United are still on the hunt for a prolific number nine during this summer’s transfer window after deals seemingly breaking down with both Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike.
Ruben Amorim has made it clear on what his plans are for this summer’s window. Manchester United are looking to bolster their attack for 2025/26 season with a new number nine.
Having already officially confirmed the signings of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha and South American Diego Leon, Amorim is still looking to improve even further.
Manchester United struggled to convert chances into goals last season with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both failing to find any sort of consistency across the season.
United ultimately finished the Premier League season in a dismal 15th place scoring a total of 44 goals, their worst tally in Premier League history.
In an attempt to score more goals next season, Ruben Amorim’s chase for a goalscoring machine has picked up pace in recent days.
Manchester United have been linked to the likes of Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and are not stopping there.
According to A Bola, Manchester United are now interested in Luis Suarez.
The Luis Suarez in question is not the one who played for Liverpool and won the Champions League with Barcelona, but is the young Colombian star who has been linked to several major European clubs.
Juventus, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Sporting CP and Sunderland are also interested in luring Luis Suarez away from his current club.
However, not one club, other than Sporting CP, have made a formal approach for the Colombian who is currently playing for Almeria in Spain’s second division.
His current contract with Almeria will expire in 2029 and the Spanish side are expected to ask for a fee of around €25 million.
During last season’s campaign, the Colombian played 43 games for the Spanish side and directly contributed to 39 goals, seeing him score 31 and provide nine. His most notable game of the season came against La Liga’s Sevilla where he scored a hat-trick in the Copa Del Rey.
If Manchester United were to secure a deal with Almeria for the Colombian, United fans would be eager to see whether the striker could carry his form over from Spain and relish his opportunity on the world’s biggest stage.
