The San Antonio Spurs begin their 2025 summer league campaign today in a matchup against the Miami Heat. San Antonio’s first three summer league games will take place in California as part of the California Classic Summer League. After that, the Spurs will compete in the Las Vegas Summer League.
San Antonio Spurs Injury Update
Unfortunately, the Spurs will be without a couple key players to begin summer league play. Dylan Harper, the player San Antonio selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, is sitting out the games in California. Harper is dealing with what the team is calling a minor groin injury.
Joining Harper on the sidelines will be Riley Minix, who spent his NBA rookie season last year on a two-way contract with the Spurs. Minix underwent shoulder surgery last season, which cut short a successful campaign with the Austin Spurs in the G League. He will sit out the California Classic Summer League as he ramps up following the shoulder surgery.
The great news for both Harper and Minix is that both players are expected to participate in the Las Vegas Summer League.
Key Players for the Spurs in Summer League
San Antonio’s other lottery pick will play in California. Carter Bryant, who the Spurs picked with the 14th overall selection, is playing today against the Heat. The Spurs acquired the pick used to select Bryant in the Dejounte Murray deal with the Atlanta Hawks.
Harrison Ingram will also play. Ingram was picked by the Spurs in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. Like Minix, Ingram was on a two-way contract with the Spurs last season.
The Spurs will also have a handful of players who either played in summer league for the Spurs last season or played in Austin. That group of players include Nate Mensah, Jameer Nelson Jr. and Ibrahima Diallo.
Mike Noyes will be the head coach of the Spurs in summer league. The 30-year-old is currently an assistant coach and the director of player development. Prior to joining the Spurs in 2024, he spent six seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies. While in Memphis, Noyes had stints as a video coordinator, data scientist and player development coach.
Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Heat
The Heat are favored by six points and the over/under is set at 176 points. The smart money is on the Heat to win by seven or more points. Without Harper and Minix, San Antonio will likely struggle to put points on the board.
