Ruben Amorim wants to fast-track Marcus Rashford’s exit from Manchester United with his proposed move to Barcelona at an impasse, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about Man United’s efforts to sell Rashford this summer.

Rashford is one of five players who Amorim has given extra time away from Carrington ahead of United’s return to pre-season training, as he and four others pursue a permanent move away from Old Trafford.

Barcelona are the current front-runners to sign Rashford in a “dream scenario” for the England forward, but Football Insider have said that their financial issues will harm any prospect of a permanent transfer.

Regardless, sources have told Football Insider that in an ideal world, Amorim doesn’t want Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia nor Rashford anywhere near his plans at Man United.

The quintet’s absence from pre-season training comes in the wake of Rashford and others all asking to leave Man United this summer, and that request is one which Amorim is all too happy to sanction.

‘Dream’ Rashford transfer under threat after Barcelona update

Barcelona’s failure to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao was seen as a significant boost for Rashford and Man United, but the former transfer saga came to an end with Barcelona unable to register Williams.

Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said that while any move for Rashford to the Spanish champions would have to be on loan, Amorim won’t hesitate to show him the door at Old Trafford.

“Rashford’s on a very lucrative contract which he doesn’t want to give up”, he told Football Insider.

“Rashford has got this dream scenario of joining Barcelona, but the way that deal’s going be done, it could only be a loan because of Barcelona’s ongoing financial issues and issues registering players.

“These players are due to return to pre-season training at Manchester United next week, but in an ideal world, Ruben Amorim will not want them there.

“He will want their futures sorted out and those unhappy players to be moved on – they’re going to have a busy summer at Manchester United.

“This is going to be one to keep an eye on, it really is. I think there could be a lot of movement.”

Man United saddled with Rashford regardless of Barcelona move

Rashford’s dream transfer to Barcelona could yet come to pass this summer, but yet another loan move for the 27-year-old will likely leave Man United burdened with a portion of his significant wage packet.

Aston Villa didn’t activate their £40million option to buy Rashford at the conclusion of his half-season loan spell last term, and Barcelona‘s financial situation casts doubt over any chance of a permanent deal.

Rashford will have his work cut out to displace Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and others in the Barcelona frontline, but if he’s able to do so, Man United will hope they can look forward to the prospect of a transfer fee at some point.
