Chelsea star Noni Madueke snubs Tottenham to join arch rivals instead
There is a clear need for Tottenham to bring in attacking reinforcements for next season. The Lilywhites are looking to compete hard on all four fronts under Thomas Frank, and squad depth will be key to mount up a good run in the Champions League next season. The North London club cannot begin the season with the same squad that finished the last campaign just a place above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
With games coming thick and fast, Spurs will need the whole squad to be fit and firing next season. For that, new players will be needed that could provide a different dynamic to the attack and elevate the quality of the squad going forward. Some might say that bringing in a new striker is the priority, but others might say that signing a wide player should be given more importance.

In whatever way you look at it, the main aim for Daniel Levy is to bring in new players that could provide competition for the already established stars in the team. The more pressing matter is that Thomas Frank needs to make the team perform better in domestic competitions quickly. And also, to close the gap on the club’s rivals next season.
Tottenham set to miss out on Chelsea star Noni Madueke
Tottenham not being able to enter concrete negotiations for any of their intended targets has been the story of the summer so far. The Lilywhites just cannot get the ball rolling and it looks like Thomas Frank is being set up to fail at N17 by Daniel Levy. The Danish tactician relies heavily on the wide players to create chances and score goals. And it is clear to see that Spurs do not have enough depth in that position for next season.
It was reported earlier that Levy wanted to address that issue and bring in Noni Madueke from Chelsea in the summer. The England international lost his way under Enzo Maresca last season, and wants to head for pastures new in the summer. Despite Maresca’s admission that Madueke would not be leaving Stamford Bridge in the summer, the Blues would be open to let the 23-year-old leave if the right offer comes in.

Now, Spurs are all set to face a massive setback in their efforts to land the winger. As per David Ornstein (via X), Arsenal have picked up pace and agreed personal terms with Madueke for a potential summer transfer. However, the Gunners are yet to approach Chelsea for his signature, and club-to-club have not commenced yet. So, Tottenham do have a chance of getting in the mix and try their luck with the Blues if they act quick.

Signing Noni Madueke would either prove to be a masterstroke, or it could be a risky move. With Thomas Frank’s over-reliance on wide players, the England international would do just fine at N17. The winger is still only 23-years-old, and has the best years ahead of him if he thrives in the right environment. Brennan Johnson would also need some competition on the right flank that would keep the Welshman on his toes for next season.
