Arsenal will turn their attentions towards completing deals for Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze after reaching an agreement with Sporting CP for Viktor Gyokeres.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Mikel Arteta’s side have been prioritising the signing of a striker.
With the Gunners now confident of landing the Sweden international, they are prepared to switch their focus elsewhere with a winger at the top of their list.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 4 July that Arsenal are closing in on signing Gyokeres after his agent was in Lisbon for face-to-face talks with Sporting.
They have also been advancing towards an agreement to bring Madueke to the Emirates from Stamford Bridge, while Crystal Palace’s Eze is a key target.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 6 July that Arsenal have held internal discussions about Eze and whether to trigger his £68million release clause.

Arsenal eye Eze and Madueke as Gyokeres deal nears completion
Paul Robinson told Football Insider on 5 July that Chelsea have opened the door for Arsenal to sign Madueke after the arrival of Joao Pedro.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the Gunners are expected to make progress towards their transfer targets in the coming days.
“*It’s difficult to predict what Arsenal are going to do,*” he told Football Insider.
“Their transfer policy has been a bit all over the place – they want to replace Martinelli and bring in a new winger, but they’re not quick in getting deals over the line.
“When you look at the business other teams have done, they’ve got things wrapped up quickly.
“Everybody knows they want a striker, that’s what they’ve been pushing for.
“It’s been their priority for probably a year now, but they’ve not been able to get one over the line and now they’re trying to do that.
“Once they can bring in that striker, then they can apply their focus elsewhere.
“Eze is on their list of targets and Madueke too, so I think we’ll see some progress with those deals after they bring in a striker, and it looks like that will be Gyokeres.
“They need one deal to fall into place and then they can set the others in motion.”

Bradley Barcola update emerges at Arsenal
Alongside Eze and Madueke, Arsenal have also been plotting an ambitious move to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola this summer.
Brown told Football Insider on 3 July that Arsenal are eyeing a deal for Barcola among a number of targets as they aim to strengthen on their current wide options.
However, PSG are unlikely to entertain talks about the France international’s future as he is regarded as a key part of Luis Enrique’s long-term plans.
The France international made 61 appearances across all competitions last season, but is not viewed as a nailed-on starter with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue.
