Wolves rival Everton for 14-goal forward target as 'big, big money' claim made

Wolves are looking to further expand their attacking options following the departure of Matheus Cunha.

The duo have both departed for new challenges in Manchester, but the former teammates will be on opposing sides next term, with Ait-Nouri signing for City and Cunha joining United. The latter has been cherry-picked to help the struggling Red Devils boost their threat in attack.

Cunha notched 15 goals and six assists in the Premier League last season. Wolves have brought in Jorgen Strand Larsen on a permanent deal from Celta Vigo, as well as Fer Lopez to bolster their options in attack. The Old Gold aren’t finished there, though.

Wolves rival Everton with interest in Championship star

The 20-year-old only signed for the Lions last summer but he is already being eyed by rival clubs. After contributing 12 Championship goals in his maiden season, clubs in the Premier League have now earmarked him as a potential candidate for their summer spending.

“I’m not surprised that there’s growing interest in Ivanovic. He’s a player with huge potential and that’s maybe what Everton have spotted,” O’Rourke said.

“There’ll be a number of clubs looking at him. Wolves have been, and even Lazio as well – so for Millwall, they could have a fight on their hands to keep hold of Ivanovic.”

Wolves target will require ‘big money’ move

O’Rourke has predicted a significant chunk of cash will be headed Millwall’s way, should they choose to sell Ivanovic this summer.

The 20-year-old arrived at The Den last year in a £2.8 million move from Serbian side Vojvodina. After winning the club’s Young Player of the Year award and picking up the Goal of the Season accolade, Ivanovic has piqued the interest of clubs in the Premier League and beyond.

Should Millwall opt to cash in, they could be looking at a significant profit made just 12 months after his arrival. Both Wolves and Everton are said to be ‘big fans’ of Ivanovic, with the Toffees eager to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has officially left the club as a free agent.

Everton are said to be ‘confident’ about landing a deal for Ivanovic, with Villarreal Thierno Barry also in their sights. It was reported at the end of June that the Blues were ‘set to step up their pursuit’ of the 22-year-old striker.

“If Millwall were to sell him [Ivanovic], they’ll be looking at big, big money – when these Premier League and top European clubs come calling, Millwall will find it hard to keep hold of him,” O’Rourke continued on Ivanovic.

“It doesn’t surprise me that Premier League clubs are looking at him, and Millwall will be fearing the worst – they could end up losing him this summer.”
