“Kudus is a crucial target” | Club’s decision means a bucketload more cash for West Ham

This afternoon there’s been more information made public regarding the cat-and-mouse negotiations and internal discussions surrounding Tottenham’s attempts to land Mohammed Kudus.

The £50 million underbid was rejected out of hand- in case you don[t remember – and amid rumours of Chelsea’s piqued interest once more, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and manager Thomas Frank went off in a huddle to decide what to do.

In-the-know Journo Fabrizio Romano – who is usually right on these things as he’s well connected within pretty much every Premier League side – has issued an update on his YouTube channel, giving new energy to Tottenham’s attempt to land the Ghanaian:

“What I’m told about Kudus is that Tottenham made the first proposal to West Ham. It was rejected because West Ham didn’t want to accept that value for the player, something around £50m for Mohammed Kudus.

But first point, Tottenham are expected to bid again for Kudus, so in the next days, Tottenham want to attack again.

Second point, Thomas Frank has approved internally, Mohammed Kudus as a top target for Tottenham this summer, as a crucial target for Tottenham this summer, so they are prepared to advance and push for Kudus and then the player side. Probably the best news for Spurs fans is that my understanding is that Kudus wants to go to Tottenham.”

Good news for the West Ham money men, then: With Kudus now apparently a ‘crucial’ target for Spuds, the chances of underbidding diminish rapidly and West Ham can wait for a bid starting with a ‘six’ with lots and lots of zero’s – before countenancing a sale.

Sad that Kudus is more than likely headed out of West Ham in the next few weeks. Not sure the Hammers faithful will be too happy that he apparently ‘wants’ to go to Tottenham but then, compared with the dire season under first sloppy Loppy and then ultra cautious Graham Potter you can almost understand his desire to be anywhere else.

However, with transfers the old adage ‘there is many a slip ‘twixt cup and lip‘ don’t take it as a ‘given’ just yet that Kudus will be lining up in white and blue next season. There’s more coming on that later this evening….
