On Sunday, the WNBA named the reserves for the 2025 All-Star Game. Two Washington Mystics players, rookie guard Sonia Citron and rookie forward Kiki Iriafen, were named. WNBA head coaches voted for the reserves but could not vote for their own players. So Mystics head coach Sydney Johnson did not vote for his own players.

I am not surprised that two Mystics players, most notably Iriafen, made the All-Star team. I was pleasantly surprised that Citron made the team, not because she didn’t deserve to. But it was because I expected Brittney Sykes to make the team.

And then … yeah … Sykes didn’t make the team. She is the most notable snub from this list. Hopefully she comes in as an emergency reserve.

On Tuesday, captains Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier will do a fantasy-style draft of the players who made the team. You can watch this on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET
