Marcus Rashford has been handed a new transfer deadline amid his uncertain future at Manchester United.

Rashford, who spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Aston Villa, has had his number ten shirt taken away from him this week, with Matheus Cunha the new recipient.

Rashford, along with United quartet Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia have all informed the club they wish to seek pastures new this summer.

That news came after Rashford's representatives told MailSport on Friday that the 27-year-old would be happy to return to Carrington on Monday, persistent on giving 'his best'. But it appears his time at the club is coming to an end.

Barcelona have been touted as the most likely destination for the United forward this summer, although talks had stalled given that the La Liga giants were prioritising a move for Nico Williams.

That move has since fallen through, and it is thought that talks between Hansi Flick's side and Rashford's camp can now resume.

It is unknown whether a loan move or a permanent transfer is the current plan, although it is understood that the Wythenshawe-born forward is available for £40m.

The continuing sticking point remains Rashford's £325,000-a-week pay packet, which is above what Barcelona would like to offer the England international.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has relayed the latest information, stating how a 'new round of talks' are set to begin in a bid to resolve his footballing situation.

Rashford has now 'accepted' he's not part of United and Amorim’s plans, with options being explored ahead of a new chapter.

Rumours of a return to Aston Villa have gone cold, especially given the Villans' precarious situation around the Premier League's PSR (Profit and Sustainability) rulings. Unai Emery made no plans to keep Rashford, and thus a move to La Liga could be the most likely option as things stand.
