Manchester United have embarked on a busy 2025 summer transfer window so far.
Furthermore, it has seen Ruben Amorim’s side target Bryan Mbeumo whose transfer to Old Trafford is ‘edging closer’ according to reports.
Alongside the targeting of Mbeumo, Manchester United have also been reported to be targeting players from Serie A – Italy’s top division.
This includes Brazilian star Douglas Luiz who Juventus have offered to Manchester United in their pursuit for Jadon Sancho.
Sancho is coming off a loan spell at Chelsea during the second half of the 2024-25 season.
Now, according to Caught Offside, Manchester United are showing an interest in Atalanta central defender Giorgio Scalvini.
However, this is not the first time United and Scalvini have been linked.
This is because of the Red Devils’ reported interest in the 21-year-old last January.
However, Manchester United are not the only side that have been reported to carry an interest in the central defender.
This is because fellow English sides Chelsea, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have been reported to carry an interest in the Italian international.
Furthermore, the 21-year-old has been pursued by Napoli, Juventus and Inter Milan according to the same report.
Relations between all six clubs and Atalanta are reported to remain at an early stage.
But, it is anticipated that interested suitors could step up their efforts to sign the central defender.
The Italian made six appearances last season in Serie A alongside one appearance in the UEFA Champions League.
With his next club unclear yet and with many sides reported to be interested in the defender, Manchester United will have to battle for the 21-year-old.
But, at 21, the defender has clear potential and could learn off many experienced defenders if he were to join United this summer.
