Tottenham must focus on strengthening their midfield and focus on getting in a new holding midfielder. Thomas Frank relies on creating chances from the midfield, and most of the build-up is focused from the heart of the pitch. It is clear that Yves Bissouma or Pape Matar Sarr do not have the technical ability to adapt to this role seamlessly. And Daniel Levy must take note of that and bring in a player that would be comfortable controlling the tempo of the game.
It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Morten Hjulmand from Sporting CP. The Denmark international has played consistently well during his time in Portugal, and the Lilywhites have taken notice of that. The aforementioned report also stated that the 26-year-old has a £69m release clause in his contract at the Portuguese club.
However, it is now being reported that Tottenham are not the only ones interested in signing Hjulmand. As per A BOLA print edition (via Tottenham News), Juventus and Inter have also entered the race to sign the holding midfielder. The Serie A giants are looking to bolster their squad for next season, and have no problems activating the release clause in the summer.
