Report: Nottingham Forest battle two PL clubs to sign £91,000-a-week Champions League striker

Nottingham Forest are still on the hunt for more firepower despite the arrival of Igor Jesus from Botafogo.

Jesus was confirmed by Forest on Saturday and he arrives to compete for a place in the team with Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo will want to ensure his team isn’t short of goals next season, and that could see him go in search of another option.

Furthermore, the Reds could lose Anthony Elanga to Newcastle and that departure would certainly see Forest enter the market for another forward.

Another talisman would give serious depth to the Forest squad and it would definitely appear as though the Reds want another player for the final third,

Nottingham Forest to fight Fulham and Brentford for Mehdi Taremi

The Inter striker could be on the move this summer, and according to Sempre Inter, Forest, Fulham and Brentford are all preparing to make a move for the striker.

An Iranian international, Taremi, wants to be playing regularly during a season that will be followed by the World Cup, and his chances of featuring often could be limited at the San Siro.

The 32-year-old helped Inter reach the final of the Champions League last season, with PSG battering the Italian team in the final.

Taremi bagged three goals and registered nine assists last season and that isn’t many strikes for a player who largely plays through the middle as a forward or number 10.

Forest can do better than Taremi

Forest signing an Inter striker would hardly be a bad signing, but there is a sense that, given the money it would likely take to sign Taremi, the club could perhaps do better.

The 32-year-old won’t retain any resale value and although not every signing needs to meet that criteria, mistakes can’t be made from a financial point of view when it comes to older players.

Taremi has scored 53 goals in 93 appearances for Iran and the fact he will have a desire to play could help whichever club he goes to this summer.

Forest have Wood, Jesus and Awoniyi right now and it’s hard to see what the £91,000-a-week Taremi can offer that is any different to those players and it’s also difficult to see him being an upgrade on the current crop.
