Josh Allen is the MVP, and they can never take that away.
But that doesn’t mean they’re gonna give him another one.
And to some, the Buffalo Bills' signal-caller will have a much tougher time repeating that success from 2025.
There are a number of justifiable reasons why Allen won't win a second straight MVP trophy this season. At the top of the list might be voter fatigue. It's just maybe why Patrick Mahomes, despite all his massive numbers, has just two since he became the starting quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Bleacher Report's latest article by Brad Gagnon is an excellent example of what we are suggesting here.
The analyst listed Allen amongst his five "prime candidates" for 2025 NFL MVP while detailing why Buffalo's franchise quarterback is both worthy and will not win the award.
In his mind, the one player who can keep Allen off an MVP trajectory is the one elite signal-caller currently without one.
"The bar will be higher this time, especially if Joe Burrow again puts up superior numbers and the Bengals actually win," said Gagnon in the argument against Allen.
Most analysts agree that the four best quarterbacks in the NFL are Mahomes, Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Burrow, in whatever order they choose. Mahomes, Allen, and Jackson each have MVP trophies.
If Burrow can get Cincinnati back to the playoffs, voters will have a golden opportunity to give him that award as well.
And maybe …
It won't matter how well Allen plays or how good Buffalo is.
Voter fatigue is real when it comes to the league MVP award. It's a big reason why Allen's run may be short-lived in 2025.
