For years, the Minnesota Vikings could trust Cris Carter to perform in big moments.
He was one of the most consistent and reliable wide receivers of his generation, making the most of his swift moves to get open.
His name isn’t often mentioned when talking about the greatest receivers of all time, but those who watched him play can attest to his impact and skills.
Nevertheless, despite Carter’s solid numbers, it seems like Asante Samuel isn’t that impressed.
The former NFL cornerback recently gave a bold opinion on Carter’s career.
“I think Cris Carter, he was great during his time. He was a h*** of a route-runner. He has some of the best hands in football. That’s what he was known for: route-running and having really good hands. … Cris Carter is overrated, to be honest,” Samuel said, via “The Art of Dialogue.”

To each his own, and Samuel is entitled to his opinion like everybody else, but that’s not going to be a very popular take.
If anything, Vikings fans will have plenty to say about it.
Carter has better numbers than Randy Moss in some of Minnesota’s franchise rankings, and some might argue that Carter is actually the best wide receiver in team history, at least numbers-wise.
However, most people would agree that current star Justin Jefferson is going to eclipse both of them when it’s all said and done.
Jefferson has already taken down some of Carter’s records, and he’s on pace to surpass every single one of them if he continues to stay healthy and with the organization in the years to come.
