Travis Kelce has seen it all during his illustrious NFL career, and he's passing some advice to the next generation ahead of their first games as professionals.
The Kansas City Chiefs star tight end is a three-time Super Bowl champion, as well as one of the most decorated players of all time at his position. Kelce holds several records and marks for tight ends, and he's closing in on matching some all-time records regardless of position.
Kelce is back for at least one more season in 2025, and he's warning a top pick about how teams may try to play him as a rookie.
"Teams are going to be going after him," Kelce said about Travis Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars on the "Bussin' With the Boys" podcast.
Hunter won the Heisman trophy last season in college at Colorado while playing on both offense and defense.
Hunter's versatility is a main reason why he's so highly regarded as a player, but Kelce warns that it could come at a significant price.
"They're going to try and make his day miserable, Kelce said. "Dude, if he plays corner, they're just going to run deep balls at him all-day. The wide receivers just take off on him all day. Just to try to get him tired. Why wouldn't you just attack him that way?"
Hunter has shown an incredible level of conditioning and stamina in his college career, playing hundreds of snaps in certain games. He'll look to become the NFL's first true two-way player in a number of decades, but the rigors of professional football could result in teams telling him to specialize one side of the ball.
Hunter played under Deion Sanders in college, first at HBU Jackson State and then at Colorado. He made history as one of the highest-ranked recruits to join the sport, and immediately raised the profile of the program and his head coach.
Hunter and the Jaguars are looking to get where Kelce and the Chiefs have been - to the last three Super Bowls. We'll see if the rookie can listen to the veteran's advice ahead of his first campaign in the league.
