Leny Yoro enjoyed a brilliant first season at Manchester United following a big-money move from Lille.
Last summer, the transfer priority at Manchester United was to strengthen in defence and deals were struck for Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Leny Yoro.
United beat Real Madrid to Yoro last summer in a huge statement of intent, with the Red Devils spending £52m to bring the French centre-back to Old Trafford.
Despite Yoro’s injury in pre-season, he became a regular starter after returning to fitness and now he can expect to be a key player in the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.
Ruben Amorim is a huge admirer of Yoro, and he seems to be a perfect fit for the Portuguese’s 3-4-2-1 formation. He will hope to step up to a new level in his second season at Old Trafford.

Leny Yoro dominates passing stat for U21 defenders
Yoro was described as a “generational talent” when he signed for United last summer, and he certainly showed why in his first season.
Last season, Amorim challenged Yoro to bring the ball forward from defence before using his incredible passing ability to break the lines of defence.
Yoro stepped up to the challenge and one stat pointed out by CIES Football Observatory proves no defender of his age even comes close to challenging his passing.

Using data from 67 leagues around the world, they found that Yoro has the highest success rate of forward passes in an opponent’s half.
Yoro boasts a success rate of 95.4% when passing forward in an opponent’s half. Not only did that top the rankings, but no player in the world even got close.
Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi ranked second with 88.4%, while Fiorentina’s Pietro Comuzzo placed third with a success rate of 86.2%.
Leny Yoro is a future Man United captain
At 19 years old, Yoro is heading into his second season as a United player not only looking to be a regular starter, but to cement his position as a key player for Amorim.
His composure on the ball is remarkable and it has helped United to control matches – something Amorim has been desperately pushing before.
But outside of his footballing talents, Yoro’s attitude has impressed United staff, with the defender described as “extremely laid back and mature”.
As a result, Yoro has been tipped to be a future captain for United once Bruno Fernandes departs.

Yoro has become close with Kobbie Mainoo, with the duo joining each other on holiday this summer as they prepare for pre-season.
Together, Yoro and Mainoo can become superstars at Old Trafford, with both youngsters remaining grounded and focused on improving.
