Cowboys' Dak Prescott Earns Shocking 'Steal' Ranking in Fantasy Football Projections

It is mock draft season. That means it's time for NFL fans to put on their ownership hats and construct their fantasy football teams ahead of the 2025 season.

The quarterback is always the highest-scoring position on average, but it usually takes a back seat to less deep positions like running back and wide receiver at the top of drafts. Nonetheless, the most elite QBs like Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson get taken off the board fairly quickly.

For Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, there is a lot working against him in these fantasy projections compared to his peers.

Where he fits in quarterback rankings is always up for debate and his concerning injury history makes him an understandable commitment to avoid. Not to mention how facing the spotlight of leading "America's Team" often puts Dak at the center of scrutiny, warranted or not.

That sometimes makes for a low bar in Dak's fantasy football value, which could work in favor of the bold individuals who decide to draft him.

Prescott was named the "best value pick" at quarterback by Bleacher Report this fantasy season. He has an average draft pick of No. 111 in fantasy leagues right now, ranking 14th among quarterbacks.

By our estimations, that is a steal.

"With the Dallas running game a major question mark, the Cowboys could be among the NFL’s most pass-heavy teams in 2025," writes Gavin Davenport. "As recently as two years ago, Prescott surpassed 4,500 passing yards, led the league in passing scores with 36 and finished third in fantasy points among quarterbacks."

Prescott's 2023 season was the best of his career and his most recent fully-healthy season, which puts an asterisk on his and the Cowboys' showing last season after his torn-off-the-bone hamstring injury put him out for the second half of the year.

Prescott is expected to be ready to go for Week 1 in 2025, and with a stronger receiving corps after the addition of George Pickens, Prescott is poised to put up big numbers once again.

That would bring major value to fantasy owners who get him in late rounds ... of course, as long as Year 10 Dak can stay healthy.

Most importantly, his production will prove instrumental to the success of a Cowboys franchise anxious to return to competitive football under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer this season.
