£172m-rated star spotted wearing Man United shirt after saying he would love to play at Old Trafford

Manchester United continue to have a huge pull for players across the globe despite the lack of recent success.

Last season saw Manchester United finish a record-low 15th in the Premier League and miss out on European qualification entirely by losing the Europa League final.

However, Ruben Amorim insists “many players want to join” United despite the lack of recent success.

Matheus Cunha is a boyhood United fan who was eager to make the move to Old Trafford this summer despite no European football. Likewise, Bryan Mbeumo only wants United as Ineos continue talks with Brentford for his signature.

Barcelona star Lamine Yamal is certainly not close to joining the Red Devils anytime soon, but his recent outfit suggests he might be a hidden fan.

Lamine Yamal spotted wearing Man United shirt

Footballers wearing the shirt of other clubs has caused some drama this summer with Alejandro Garnacho wearing an Aston Villa kit with Marcus Rashford’s name.

It comes at a time where Rashford wants to play with Yamal at Barcelona, with reports claiming a move to Spain is the player’s “dream” this summer.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s Yamal has been spotted wearing a United shirt during his holidays this summer.

As per Transfermarkt, Yamal has a value of €200m (£172m) as one of the world’s most exciting young talents.

It goes without saying that United are in no position to even try and poach Yamal from Barcelona anytime soon, especially as he has a contract valid until 2031.

But it’s not the first time he has hinted at being a fan.

Lamine Yamal wants to play at Old Trafford

Yamal has become Barcelona’s new prized jewel, taking over from Lionel Messi as the club talisman.

United’s chances of ever landing the Spanish winger rank from slim to none, but on top of wearing a United shirt, he has also spoken about his adoration of Old Trafford.

As quoted by Daily Mail, Yamal was asked which stadiums he’d love to play in. He responded: “There are so many I’ve yet to experience, especially outside of Europe.

“In Europe, some of the iconic ones I’d like to play in are Old Trafford and Anfield.”

Ineos want to attract the world’s best young players to Old Trafford, but Sir Jim Ratcliffe has his work cut out if he is ever going to convince Yamal to call the Theatre of Dreams his home.
