Viktor Gyokeres is heading to the Premier League.

But, it will be to Arsenal – not Manchester United.

This is because a full agreement was reached for Gyokeres to join the Gunners earlier today.

However, even with him not moving to United, he will play at Old Trafford next season.

This is due to the fact that Manchester United host Arsenal in their first game of the Premier League season.

Gyokeres excelled in the Liga Portugal last season scoring 39 goals.

He also scored six goals in the UEFA Champions League.

This attracted the interest of many clubs including Liverpool and Manchester United.

Earlier today, the fee for the deal for the 27-year-old was reported with Mikel Arteta’s side expected to pay a fixed fee of £56 million to Sporting CP.

Furthermore, they are expected to pay £8-13 million in additional fees.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the deal.

Tweeting on X, Romano stated that Viktor Gyokeres has accepted to give up two million euros from his salary.

This is due to the fact that Sporting CP are demanding a higher fee than Arsenal are proposing.

Therefore, through giving up two million euros, the 27-year-old is trying to make the deal and subsequent move happen.

If his move to England was to go through, it would not be the striker’s first time playing in the country.

This is due to his spells at Brighton and Hove Albion, Swansea City and most famously Coventry City.

However, he will be returning to England as a player who has realised their potential.

For Manchester United, not gaining Gyokeres’ signature will mean they will have to turn to other options.

This may include Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Victor Osimhen who have both been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.
