Nuggets intend to keep Jonas Valanciunas

The Denver Nuggets have informed Jonas Valanciunas representatives that the franchise fully intends to have him honor his contract.

Jonas Valanciunas hopes of getting back to Europe are getting slimmer, as the Denver Nuggets fully intend to keep the Lithuanian big man under contract, Shams Charania reports.

The EuroLeague powerhouse Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens offered Valanciunas a three-year deal worth €12 million net (approximately $13 million), and the 33-year-old center had even arrived in Athens on Friday to complete medicals.

The Nuggets see Valanciunas as a key part of Denver's frontcourt rotation heading into the 2025–26 season.

His current NBA contract is guaranteed for next season at $10.4 million, with a $10 million team option for 2026–27.

The Nuggets have traded for Valanciunas by sending Dario Saric to the Sacramento Kings.

Throughout his 13-year NBA career with the Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, Washington Wizards, and Sacramento Kings, the Lithuanian big man averaged 13.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 25 minutes per game.
