Intrigue and trade rumors surround Sacramento Kings’ summer league roster

The Sacramento Kings have assembled a talented roster that should represent the organization well in the upcoming Las Vegas Summer League.

The team will feature Devin Carter, the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft, and 2025 draft selections Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud. Mason Jones and Isaac Jones of the 2025 G League champion Stockton Kings will also participate along with Dyland Cardwell and Isaac Nogues.

Carter was limited to 36 games as a rookie last season after undergoing shoulder surgery. The former Providence star will have an opportunity to showcase his game after being mentioned in trade talks for Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga.

There are high hopes for Clifford, a 6-foot-6 ½ guard who came to Sacramento after the Kings acquired the 24th pick in the draft in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Raynaud, a 7-1 center from Stanford, was chosen with the 42nd overall pick after being projected as a first rounder.

The Kings will play the Orlando Magic in their summer league opener at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at UNLV’s Cox Pavilion. They will face the Chicago Bulls at 5 p.m. Saturday, the Phoenix Suns at 7 p.m. on July 14 and the Cleveland Cavaliers at 12:30 p.m. on July 16.

All 30 NBA teams will play at least five games in Las Vegas. After each team’s first four games, the top four teams will advance to the semifinals July 19 with the winners meeting in the championship game July 20. The 26 teams that don’t reach the playoffs will play a consolation game July 18 or 19.

Kings assistant coach/player development Dipesh Minstry will serve as head coach for the summer league team. Joining him on the bench will be assistant coaches Will Scott, Jimmy Alapag, Garrius Adams, Shandon Goldman, Dane Johnson, Lindo Sibankulu, Jason Maxiell and Mate Jakab.
