Sunderland AFC have opened talks with Serie A side Sassuolo over the availability of French winger Armand Laurienté (26), according to a report this Sunday from L’Equipe. The former Lorient player had a remarkable season with I Neroverdi, logging 19 goals and five assists to propel Sassuolo to the 2025 Serie B title. Laurienté was named the best player of the campaign.
The outlet understands that Sunderland are pushing to sign Laurienté and club-to-club talks have already been initiated with the Serie A side. Laurienté is entering his final contract year with Sassuolo. Should he sign for Régis Le Bris’ Black Cats, Laurienté would be the fourth French-speaking player to join Sunderland on a permanent basis this summer, after Enzo Le Fée, Habib Diarra and Noah Sidiki.
