If it seems like Chris Paul has been playing in the NBA forever, you’re not mistaken. The former Wake Forest star has been around since he was selected fourth overall in the 2005 NBA Draft by the then-New Orleans Hornets.
Of course, CP3’s journey has taken him on many different adventures since. He’s become a 12-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA selection, and a nine-time member of the NBA’s All-Defensive team.
There’s no doubt he’s a lock to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Paul, who’s played 20 seasons in the NBA, is still looking for a team for the 2025-26 season. However, whatever Paul signs will likely be a short one. Not just because he’s already 40 years old, but because he says he only wants to play one more season in the NBA.

There are several teams interested in signing Paul for what will be his 21st NBA season. However, he would prefer to play closer to home in California. One of the teams interested in Paul is the Los Angeles Clippers.
Yet, Paul wants to be a starter, and there may not be many starting roles available for the longtime vet.
