Randy Moss Didn’t Hesitate When Naming the NFL’s Best Quarterbacks

Former Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss is widely known as one of the best players in NFL history. Spending 14 seasons in the league, he won numerous awards and was named to the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time team.

Following his NFL career, Moss began working as an analyst on ESPN's "Sunday Night Countdown." In December 2024, he stepped away from the role after announcing his cancer diagnosis. Fortunately, he is expected to return to ESPN for the 2025 NFL season.

As he gears up for his comeback, Moss has been staying sharp during the offseason, most recently by debating with his son about the top five quarterbacks in the NFL. The Hall of Famer certainly knows a thing or two about great QBs, having played alongside legends like Tom Brady and Brett Favre.

And it turns out, Moss has a clear top four, naming the Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes, the Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson, the Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen and the Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow.

Yet, Moss and his son couldn't think of the fifth best.

"Me and my son at lunch trying to pick top 5 qbs," Moss wrote on X. "Mahomes Jackson Allen Burrow in no order. Whos the 5th?"

The four quarterbacks Moss mentioned, all from AFC teams, are widely regarded as the best in the NFL. Each has been a regular in MVP conversations throughout their careers, but Mahomes holds the clear edge in championships with three Super Bowl rings, while Jackson, Allen, and Burrow have yet to win one.

While Moss may not know the fifth-best quarterback in the NFL, others responded with their opinions. Philadelphia Eagles star Jalen Hurts was a popular pick, especially after defeating Mahomes in Super Bowl LIX.
