Manchester United are set to “make shock move” for former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to reports.
The 28-year-old, who has been capped 11 times by England, is currently a free agent, having left the Toffees when his contract expired at the end of last month.
The Sun claim that Calvert-Lewin’s availability for free makes him an attractive target for the Red Devils who have limited funds to spend. However, fans on X are not in favour of signing the forward:

If United can get him on cheap wages, and he is the 3rd choice striker….the answer is still no.

Calvert-Lewin’s scoring record will concern Man United fans
Some have cited the player’s poor injury history as a big reason why Ruben Amorim’s side should not snap up the player. However, he has been fit for most matches over the last two seasons.
The main issue with Calvert-Lewin is his record in front of goal. He has only managed to find the back of the net 10 times in the league since the start of the 2023/24 campaign, despite making 59 appearances.
Amorim is badly missing a striker who can score on a consistent basis and Calvert-Lewin would not improve his team in the final third of the pitch.
While he could potentially be used as a backup option, there is really no need for a player like that, considering Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Chido Obi are all part of the first-team squad.
In other news, Man United have been linked with a move for a Colombian international forward who scored 31 times last season
