The Utah Jazz are coming off one of the most anticipated matchups of the whole summer that saw VJ Edgecombe and Ace Bailey go at it in a battle of top-five draft picks.
While Bailey didn’t have the most efficient game, the Jazz came away victorious 93-89, and now look ahead to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Jaylen Wells — G/F
With the Grizzlies’ first-round pick, Cedric Coward, likely being out for the entire summer, the focus shifts to last years’ third place finisher in the rookie of the year race, Jaylen Wells.
Wells, who was a second-round pick in 2024, had a great stat line in game one of the Salt Lake City Summer League vs the Oklahoma City Thunder: 20 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

GG Jackson — PF
The third-year forward out of South Carolina had as big of a sophomore slump as you can have, filled with injuries and a heavily diminished role. As an 18/19-year-old rookie, Jackson averaged 14.6 points per game, but that production was cut in half in year two, only averaging 7.2.
Jackson scored 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting on Saturday.

Ace Bailey — F
Salt Lake City’s prized No. 5 pick had some bright spots in Saturday’s game, most notably his skyscraping block that showcased his seven foot wingspan. Besides the few highlights here and there, it was an inefficient night for Ace Bailey.
Eight points on 13 shots is not enough for what is supposed to be Utah’s future, so expect a turnaround against Memphis.

Utah’s other first-round pick, Walter Clayton Jr., had the better performance on Saturday night. The NCAA tournament’s most outstanding player showcased his underrated passing skills, logging six assists on only two turnovers. He also chipped in nine points with two 3-point shots.
