Rushing The Passer Against Tristan Wirfs Is Futile

July 7th, 2025

Dominant.

Joe knows who to lay cash on for the NFL’s new award, “Protector of the Year.”

The NFL announced it will offer a new award for the NFL’s best offensive lineman during their dopey awards show at the Super Bowl.

The award will be known as “Protector of the Year.”

Whoever decides the recipient, if last year is any indication, then it will be Bucs left tackle Tristan Wirfs.

Per the crowd at the cash-strapped The 33rd Team, no tackle protected quarterbacks and kept pass rushers from them quite like Wirfs.

It seems Wirfs has allowed the lowest pressure rate of any tackle since Wirfs was a rookie in 2020. Only 2.4 percent of the snaps Wirfs has been on the field resulted in a pass rusher getting past him and putting heat on a quarterback.

The only guy who has allowed fewer pressures is Kansas City center Creed Humphrey.

Unfortunately, at the time Joe is typing this here article, the lone legal sportsbook in Florida has not posted any odds on this award for the 2025 season.

If they do, Joe is dropping cash on Wirfs. Per DraftKings, Wirfs is at +1300 to win the award.

The famed SuperBook in Las Vegas, which is the plastic straw that stirs the drink when it comes to sports odds in America, has Wirfs at 10-1 to win the award, second to Penei Sewell of the Lions.
