Levy’s lame add-ons | West Ham and Tottenham uneasy truce evaporates

Events last night as reported would seem to suggest that West Ham and Tottenham are further apart than ever in terms of a Mohammed Kudus agreement. Claret and Hugh’s article suggesting there might be a late [‘Saudi surge’](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfers-saudi-giants-set-to-hijack-spurs-kudus-deal/) would be a curse for the player who doesn’t want to leave European football – but music to David Sullivan’s -and I suspect most West Ham fans- ears after the Spurs Chairman’s last manoeuvre hasn’t won him any goodwill.

If true, the reports suggest that Tottenham came in with their third Mohammed Kudus bid, but with ‘add-ons’ – performance related additional payments, making up the notional ‘ increase’. Whilst the _total headline figure_ might appear an improvement – £62.5 million is the published ‘third bid’ – the devil is in the detail as far as West Ham are concerned.

The ‘add-on’s- the triggers for extra payments – are so unlikely to be paid it is both laughable and insulting to even put them in as a credible bid: _£5million extra ‘if Spurs win the Champions League”_ and ‘_£5 Million extra if Spurs win the Premier League’._ Frankly there is more chance of West Ham doing so, having finished above Tottenham last season.

I’m sure this lame effort at window dressing to _appear to be increasing a bid_ will go down well at Sullivan Towers.

Now the West Ham chairman knows what it feels like to be well and truly low-balled. Whether it will motivate the West Ham recruitment team to wait for another club – anyone but Tottenham – to do business with- will depend on the urgency to sell but like every other West Ham fan, I sure hope so.
