Everton have been joined by Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig in the race to sign Omari Hutchinson this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about Hutchinson’s prospective exit from Ipswich Town.

Hutchinson is in high demand this summer after Ipswich’s relegation to the second tier, and the presence of a £35million release clause in his contract had alerted both Everton and West Ham to his availability.

Football Insider have already revealed that Hutchinson would jump at the chance to sign Everton and continue his Premier League career, but David Moyes isn’t the only manager in the market for a winger.

Sources have told Football Insider that as well as the Toffees, West Ham, Fulham and Brentford, German duo Leipzig and Dortmund have entered an “open race” to trigger Hutchinson’s £35m release clause.

Hutchinson is Everton’s ‘priority’ amid Dortmund transfer update

Everton have already expressed an ambition to strengthen their attack and Football Insider revealed on 4 July that Moyes is keen on a move for Millwall striker Mihailo Ivanovic, with Hutchinson top of the list.

Moyes’ track record at developing proven Championship talent into Premier League mainstays is strong, but Hutchinson could favour a move to Dortmund given his activity on social media in recent months.

Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said that a new winger is Everton’s priority this summer, and Hutchinson’s displays for both Ipswich and England’s Under-21s have attracted plenty of suitors.

“We know Everton are in the market for wingers – David Moyes will make it a priority to bring in new wide men”, he told Football Insider.

“Hutchinson would tick a lot of boxes. It won’t just be Everton who have shown an interest in Hutchinson, there’s also interest from the likes of Fulham, Brentford, West Ham.

“The very latest information I have is that there’s also interest from abroad in Germany following that success at the [Under-21] Euros; Dortmund and Leipzig are admirers of Hutchinson as well. It’s a pretty open race.”

Everton in race against time to seal Hutchinson transfer

With no less than six teams queuing up to sign him this summer, Hutchinson’s future looks certain to lie away from Portman Road and his displays at the Under-21 Euros did his chances of a transfer no harm.

Moyes’ transfer budget of £70m is more than most Everton managers have had to spend in recent seasons, but it’s unclear if he’ll refrain from using up roughly half that amount on Hutchinson alone.

The returns of Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom to their parent clubs leaves Everton with a dearth of depth out wide, and Hutchinson could prove to be the player who occupies one of the flanks at the Hill Dickinson Stadium next term.
