Newcastle United are understood to be locked in negotiations for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga.
Anthony Elanga has already outlined why his two-footed style would be perfect for Newcastle United.
It is no secret that the Swede is a top target for the Magpies - just as he was 12 months ago. Newcastle failed with a deadline-day bid last summer before Elanga fired Nottingham Forest to European qualification.
Toon chiefs are understood to be locked in negotiations for the 23-year-old, with an agreement close. Forest are holding out for £60million - close to the club-record figure Newcastle paid for Alexander Isak three years ago.
Newcastle United want right-winger
A right-winger has been pursued for a while and remains the only position United have not signed since the Saudi-backed takeover. Yankuba Minteh - now at Brighton - arrived as a youth player but did not kick a ball in black-and-white stripes.
Bryan Mbeumo was a summer target before his intention became clear regarding a Manchester United switch. Elanga is now the No.1 target and the Magpies are confident they can strike a deal soon.
Anthony Elanga qualities
Predominantly a right-winger, Elanga is two-footed and can also play on the left flank. His speed is also a key asset - with the Forest talisman ranking as the fifth-fastest player in the Premier League last season.
Elanga detailed the skillset he can bring to Eddie Howe’s side following his winner against Man United in April. He said: "It is about attacking the space and getting to the opposite goal as quickly as I can. I saw the space and I believe I'm one of the fastest players in the league.
"The finish is something I have been trying to work on. Left foot or right foot, I am quite comfortable with both feet this season."

Anthony Elanga on exit
Speaking to Swedish media, Elanga stayed coy on the speculation regarding his future. He said: “There is a lot of talk. I focus on what I can do and my focus today was on the match. In football, there are always rumours. The most important thing is that I focus on what I can control.
“I guess there will always be scouts wherever I play. As long as I stay focused and do my best in the match, I just keep my focus and what I can control. That's what I can do on and off the field. I focus on the next day and action. That's what I can do.”
