Leeds United Premier League rivals transfer watch as Sunderland agree deal for Club Brugge star

Leeds United's summer transfer business has been relatively low-key thus far.

Only Jake Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Lukas Nmecha have arrived at Elland Road to this point, and Daniel Farke has continued to stress the importance of bringing in the correct calibre of players to balance his squad.

The Whites will be bidding to remain in England's top flight after their title-winning campaign in the Championship last season, but now the monopoly in recent years seems to suggest the three promoted sides, much like Ipswich Town, Southampton, and Leicester City found out, tend to struggle the most.

With that in mind, LeedsLive takes a closer look at the transfers conducted recently by those we feel could also struggle amid their own hopes of Premier League survival.

Burnley

Scott Parker's most recent addition includes former Manchester City and six-time Premier League winner Kyle Walker, who isn't a bad recruit to their ranks.

Former Ipswich Town man Axel Tuanzebe also joined from Ipswich Town recently, and given the ex-Manchester United man made 23 Premier League appearances last year, he also looks to be a shrewd pick-up, all things considered.

Wolves

Wolves, for the most part, feel like a side that could really struggle, given Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri have both departed in what feels like seismic losses for Vitor Pereira's side.

Completing a permanent deal for Jorgen Strand Larsen after an impressive first season in England feels like a clever addition, with the 25-year-old having scored eight times for the Midlands-based outfit last term.

Their only other signing so far is winger Fer López, who also arrived from Celta Vigo. Lopez scored four senior goals for the La Liga side in 2024/25 and, at 21, seems to be one for the future.

Sunderland

Losing Jobe Bellingham was always going to leave a seismic hole for Sunderland, and Regis Le Bris will no doubt feel the same way, as the England Under-21 international completed a move to Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer.

In terms of incomings, the Black Cats seem to have agreed a £23m move for Club Brugge star Chemsdine Talbi, with Fabrizio Romano relaying the news no less than 24 hours ago.

After they splashed out a club-record £30m fee to sign Habib Diarra from Strasbourg recently, too, it appears Sunderland are keen to have a real go at Premier League survival, and they feel spending big may be their best chance of doing just that.
