[Real Madrid](https://www.managingmadrid.com) striker Gonzalo Garcia talked to DAZN following the team’s 3-2 win over [Borussia Dortmund](https://www.fearthewall.com) in the Quarterfinals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Gonzalo has already scored four goals and delivered one assist during the tournament, when he was expected to be just an emergency option for Kylian Mbappe in case the Frenchman suffered any kind of injury.
When asked about whether or not he can be the player to fulfill the role Joselu Mato had during the 2023-24 season, Gonzalo was confident.
“Yes, well, maybe, I mean I can also have that role as a finisher in the box. But, it’s not that I want to define myself only as that, I can also contribute much more to the team in other situations,” he said.
Not even Gonzalo expected to make this kind of impact for Real Madrid in this tournament, he said.
“It was unthinkable what I’m doing. Arda set me up with a perfect pass, just like Trent did the other day. Arda and I had talked about it. I just had to tap it in,” he added.
The young attacker will likely come off the bench against Paris Saint-Germain, assuming Kylian Mbappe returns to the starting lineup against his former team.
