Crystal Palace medical scheduled on Tuesday – Player thrilled to join Eagles

Last week, Voetbal International stated Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is pushing to sign Ajax’s Borna Sosa this summer.

The Eagles have made advances to secure the left-back’s services, according to multiple claims from the Dutch press.

Crystal Palace have been in talks with Ajax after tabling an opening bid on Friday. That’s according to De Telegraaf, who state the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement worth €4m including bonuses.

Algemeen Dagblad state the Eredivisie side are set to reach a full agreement with the FA Cup winners for the 27-year-old. They add he will travel to the UK on Monday and his medical with the Eagles is scheduled for Tuesday.

Ajax invested €8m to buy him from VfB Stuttgart in 2023 but Sosa failed to impress.

The fullback was on loan at Torino last season and returned to Ajax, where he’s not part of John Heitinga’s plans. Sosa’s salary would have increased considerably following Ajax’s return to the Champions League.

De Telegraaf report Ajax are ‘very keen’ on getting rid of the Croatia international. AD also state they have informed Sosa that he’s not part of their plans next season.

With Ajax pushing him out, Sosa seems determined to join Crystal Palace. He’s optimistic of playing regularly at Selhurst Park and this is needed for him to represent his country at the 2026 World Cup.
