Arsenal lose another member of their coaching staff

First it was Carlos Cuesta, poached by Italian side Parma to become their new manager.

And now Mehmet Ali, Arsenal under-21 manager, has also left the club, with Brentford recruiting him to become part of the backroom staff of Keith Andrews, who has succeeded Thomas Frank as manager of the West London club.

And it leaves the Gunners with several vacancies to fill ahead of the new season, although the former Manchester United player and Argentine international Gabriel Hinze who played with Mikel Arteta at PSG could fill one of them.

And some have speculated that could pave the way for a return for Jack Wilshere.

The former player had coached Arsenal at under-18 level, and played a pivotal role in the development of both Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri, but left to become assistant coach at Norwich.

He briefly held the manager role there when Johannes Hoff Thorup was sacked towards the end of last season, but left when he learned he was not in permanent consideration for the job.

He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
